Fire Destroys Building at Hammonton Pool Maker

HAMMONTON - An overnight fire destroyed the operations building at Water World Fiberglass Pools N.E. Inc. on Reading Avenue.

Lightning Likely Started E.H.T. Fire

EGG HARBOR TWP--Lightning is most likely to blame, for a house fire along the 1000 block of Old Zion Road in the Bargaintown section of Egg Harbor Township.

Officials say two residents were home during the height of a thunderstorm just after 11 am when it was reported that lightning struck.

The bedroom section of the ranch style home is a complete loss and there is heavy smoke and heat damage to the rest of the home. Officials say the residents will be staying with family.

The exact cause remains under investigation.

Egg Harbor Township - The lightning that struck the region may have started a fire that damaged a home in the Bargaintown section of the township Monday morning.

An emergency call came in at about 11:45 a.m. about a house in the 1300 block of Old Zion Road. Bargaintown Fire Chief Tom Nace said 30 firefighters from the Bargaintown, Scullville and Somers Point volunteer fire companies responded to the scene and took 10 minutes to put out the blaze....Continue Reading

Boy Hit by Car in Egg Harbor City, Hospitalized

Egg Harbor City - A boy was taken to the hospital Monday evening after he was struck by a car while crossing Duerer Street, police said.

The 13-year-old, whose name was not released, was crossing Duerer Street in the crosswalk at Buffalo Avenue at 6:25 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle driven by Chester Rotski III, 28, of Egg Harbor City, said investigating Patrolman Matthew Landicini. There is no traffic light at the intersection.

The boy was taken by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus for treatment of his injuries, Landicini said. It was not immediately known how badly he was hurt.

Pa. Man Hurt in Expressway Crash in Hammonton

HAMMONTON - A Pennsylvania man was taken to the hospital after his minivan crashed into a tree this morning along the Atlantic City Expressway, police said.

According to State Police, Ricky Wilson, 44, of Breinigsville, was traveling at an unsafe speed when his vehicle hit a puddle and was sent off the roadway into a tree on the right shoulder near milepost 28.7 eastbound.

Wilson was taken to the Regional Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City with what police said were nonlife-threatening injuries.
