John Nevius Sr 1950 - 2015Last Call for John A. Nevius It is with deep sadness that the Elwood Vol. Fire Company announces the passing of life member and former President John Nevius Sr. on Wednesday September 23rd from an auto accident. Our deepest sympathies go out to his friends and family. John was well known within his community as a member of the Mullica Township School Board and Zoning Board. His most beloved contribution, however, was to the Elwood Volunteer Fire Company. He was a devoted member for 33 years and served as Secretary before becoming President. His faith was important to him, which led to missionary work with his church. He was part of the workforce that opened Resorts Casino and later worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist at Northrop Grumman. John will be remembered most for his constant banter, his love for his family, and his willingness to help anyone he met. He enjoyed spending his time reading, riding his motorcycle, and watching soccer. He is predeceased by his parents: Kirk and Jean Nevius. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Nevius; his brother, Kirk Nevius and wife, Rosalee; his son, John Nevius, Jr.; his daughters Kathy Nevius, Adrienne Heuman, Kandi Snow (Henry Hasselhan), Jackie Mancinelli (Rich Mancinelli), Bethany Nevius, and Vanessa Denmead (Hank Denmead); and nine loving grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th. 2015 from 5pm until 8pm at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City. A service will follow at 8pm. For directions and condolences, please visit wimbergfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's memory to the Elwood Volunteer Fire Company: PO Box 223, Elwood NJ 08217. |
