GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Three pets died in a fire that left two apartments uninhabitable Friday afternoon, police said.
Galloway Township police were the first on scene to a fire in the Ryan’s Ridge development on Second Avenue around 4:30 p.m. and evacuated the complex.
Firefighters from Galloway’s volunteer companies Bayview, Pomona and Oceanville also responded and were able to bring the fire under control under the direction of Galloway Township Fire Chief Richard Smith. Two of the residences are no longer inhabitable, according to police. A third unit sustained minor damage.
The fire is under investigation by Investigator Scott Feldman of the Galloway Township Fire Department, and Detective Lt. Joseph Picardi and Officer John Mooney of the Galloway Township Police Department Fire Investigation Unit.
Also responding to the scene were the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, Galloway Township Emergency Management, Galloway Township Code Enforcement, American Red Cross and Atlantic City Electric.
