EGG HARBOR CITY – A small fire burned about three acres of forest in Egg Harbor City late Friday night, but did not damage any structures or injure anyone, an official said.
The fire was reported at about 9:30 p.m., said Russ Fenton, a member of the Egg Harbor City Fire Department and the state Forest Fire Service’s Section Warden.
The fire was off ofPhiladelphia Avenue, in the woods south of Egg Harbor City campground, he said. It was contained within about 30 minutes, Fenton said, and crews were able to leave by 11 p.m.
The fire was aided by the extremely dry conditions that have sharply raised fire risks, Fenton. In the last week alone, Fenton said he has responded to 10 or so similar fires.
