Family and friends celebrate life of fire victim Brendan Gormley, 24

Gormley, 24, died Dec. 2 after his family’s Buena Vista Township home caught fire. He was apparently trying to save his pet cat.

An exact cause for the fire has not been determined.

Gormley’s funeral was held Saturday at Boakes Funeral Home on Main Street in Mays Landing. The service included a sharing of reflections.

Gormley was voted “Most Unique” of his 2005 Buena Regional High School class — of which he graduated third. He later attended DePaul University, graduating summa*censored*laude with a degree in computer and video game design.

He is survived by his parents and two siblings.
