Philadelphia looking for Joseph Herbert, 64, who was last seen at about noon Nov. 30.

He is white, 6 feet tall and thin with green eyes and gray hair. He was last wearing a white and black flannel jacket, jeans and possibly a gray baseball hat that reads "Tennessee" and a cane.

He doesn't speak, but responds by shaking his head. He may have a card with his name and contact information.

Mullica Police Capt. John Thompson said neighboring authorities have been notified, including surrounding police departments, rescue missions and the forest service. He said Herbert's been known to walk into Wharton State Forest, to Little Egg Harbor Township and even to Philadelphia.

"He doesn't talk, so he could be a John Doe at a rescue center somewhere and we haven't heard," Thompson said.

Herbert is commonly seen walking around town.

Friends created a Facebook page to trade details and leads in his search, titled "Missing Person - Joseph Herbert, 64." It has several pictures of Herbert, as well as the latest information about weather forecasts and possible sightings.

One user posted that Herbert was sighted at about 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Hammonton area heading west toward Waterford Township. According to comments on the page, police were looking in that area later Wednesday night.
