An 18-year-old woman was injured Thursday evening in Mullica Township when she was hit by a car.

Police said in a news release that Veronica Rivera, 18, of Mullica Township, was trying to cross the White Horse Pike about 6 p.m. in the Elwood section of the township. She was struck by a car driven by Elizabeth McBride, 78, of South Hampton.

Rivera was conscious and alert when she was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. She was treated for unknown injuries and is in fair condition, hospital spokeswoman Jenna DeCicco said. Police said no summons has been issued, but the incident remains under investigation.
