Fire Rescue News - After-hours fire damages roof of Kennedy’s Bar in Galloway Township
Fire officials were trying to determine the cause of a fire Monday night at Kennedy’s Bar, located at Route 30 and Pomona Road in Galloway Township.
Galloway Fire Chief Ron Garbutt said the fire started at about 10 p.m. in the bar’s third-floor attic, which is used for storage. The flames went through the roof, causing severe roof damage. The building also suffered water damage throughout, Garbutt said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Garbutt said. The bar closed at about 9:30 p.m. and was unoccupied at the time.
About 30 to 40 firefighters from the Pomona, Germania, Bayview and Oceanville fire companies responded to the blaze, which was almost completely extinguished by 11:30 p.m.
The intersection of Route 30 and Pomona Road was closed Monday night while crews fought the fire.
