9:18 a.m. near the intersection with Chew Road
Maimone said the northbound vehicle was driven by a 23-year-old Hispanic man and he was traveling with a 25-year-old year Hispanic male passenger. The driver was reportedly driving in an erratic manner before crossing into the southbound lanes.
There, his vehicle hit another car driven by a 30-year-old Hispanic man. The driver along with his two passengers, a 28-year-old Hispanic woman, who is five months pregnant, and a four-year-old boy, were taken by ambulance to AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center, mainland division.
The driver of the northbound car was taken by helicopter to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, city divison, while his passenger was taken to Virtua Hospital in Berlin.
Maimone said all were in stable condition and an investigation is ongoing. The names of those involved had not yet been released by police, but both drivers have been charged.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was charged with being an unlicensed driver, having an uninsured motor vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane.
The other driver was charged with being an unlicensed driver.
