Dogwood avenue, Egg Harbor Township police said.

The force of the collision caused the van to roll off the road, and Lafferty, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

Lafferty suffered critical injuries and received treatment at the scene before being flown by helicopter to the Regional Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. He died at 5:31 p.m. at the hospital.

Brandon Scott, 24, of Egg Harbor City, was a passenger in Lafferty's van and suffered minor injuries from being thrown to the rear of the van as it rolled. Scott was not wearing a seat belt, police said, and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police said the other vehicle involved in the accident was traveling east on Dogwood Avenue when it entered the intersection at English Creek and collided with Lafferty's van.

The driver of the car, Frank Garrone, 51, of Egg Harbor Township, was not injured in the crash.

Traffic was detoured for about 90 minutes while the accident was investigated and the road was cleared.

The crash remains under investigation, police said, and motor vehicle summons may be issued, pending the results.
