firehouse to give the Hughes family a Christmas and New Year's party to help them get back on their feet.
Mark and Lisa Hughes' 4-year-old son Trey, and 2-year-old daughter Natalie were able to open presents Santa hand picked for them.
The Hughes say they are extremely blessed to live in such a loving and supportive community.
"We're really thankful, i mean we lost everything and at the same time it's just brought everything together, it feels really good you know, but we're really thankful," says Mark Hughes.
The community also donated clothing, supplies and gift cards. Organizers say what the family can't use will go to help others in need.
"what they can't use, all the gifts in surplus they can pass on to the battered women's shelter, the ac rescue mission, a lot of other places and people they can help through this... so a lot of good will come from this tragedy," says Melissa Mashura, friend of the family and event organizer.
Officials say the fire at the family's home on 7th Avenue started in the wood stove just after 8:30 on December 24th while the family was across the street at a neighbors house for dinner and is believed to be accidental. The hughes plan to rebuild.
