Seventh Street house caught fire, possibly from a wood-burning stove.
No people were injured, but a family dog died in the blaze, which fully engulfed the home by the time the family, state police and three local fire companies arrived at the scene.
On Saturday afternoon, a distraught Mark Hughes said they were only able to salvage a few pictures. Everything else was lost.
“All our kids’ toys, our clothes,” Hughes said, while sifting through the rubble of the home he has lived in for 25 years. “I mean, it’s a total loss.”
The couple, their 2-year-old daughter Natalie and 4-year-old son Trey were staying with neighbors on Saturday.
Mark Hughes said the only thing the family could do now was move forward and rebuild.
