Fire Rescue News - Students return to Atlantic City High School after small fire prompts evacuation
ATLANTIC CITY - District school officials said Atlantic City High School students returned to the building this afternoon after they were evacuated this morning because of smoke from a small fire.
While the time of their return wasn't available, district officials said they went back to classes before being dismissed for the day at 3 p.m.
City fire officials said the smoke began when someone set fire to some paper in the high school cafeteria.
Fire Chief Dennis Brooks said one school staff member was injured, although he didn't have the staff member's name or the nature of the injury.
Police and fire units went to the scene. The Fire Department's Fire Prevention Unit also was sent to the scene.
