3:18 a.m. on the 100 block of Linda Lane. Housel said the car had been burning for at least 20 minutes before it was discovered, and that investigators believe an explosion occurred at 2:57 a.m. A person traveling on the White Horse Pike reported the fire, Housel said.

Investigators found the charred remains inside the car after extinguishing the fire.

The man was determined to be caucasian during an autopsy Wednesday afternoon performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood. Hood, who performed the autopsy while the Atlantic County medical examiner was on vacation, said the victim may have suffered blunt-force trauma to the head. There is sufficient biological evidence to help with identity, he said.

Housel is asking anyone who may have seen a car matching that description traveling east on the White Horse Pike from the Camden County area, or who can provide any other information, to call the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-909-7800 to help investigators piece together what happened.

“If you saw that and saw anybody else around the car, or in the car, contact us. It's very important to develop each and every lead,” Housel said.

The car was parked next to a group of Dumpsters near a small shopping center that faces the White Horse Pike, Housel said. Investigators believe the car traveled east on the White Horse Pike and turned right onto Sindoni Lane. The car then turned right on to Linda Lane and traveled just a few feet before it was parked, Housel said. The Hammonton Middle School track is across the street from where the car was found.
