too much smoke for that," said Daniels, 30, of Logan Avenue. "When I got around the back of the houses (at 511 Indiana Avenue) we saw a couch completely covered in flames."

Daniels said that she and another person called 911 multiple times and then knocked on the doors the home where the fire was, as well as adjacent homes, to alert the residents.

"I know people would do the same thing for me," said Daniels, who said a woman and a child in the house escape unharmed.

The fire appeared under control as of 2:35 p.m., but the blaze damaged the siding on the home.

There were no injuries reported.
