A child playing with a candle caused a fire at a single-story house Saturday evening in Pleasantville, a fire official said.
Firefighters arrived at the home on the 400 block of West Windsor Avenue by about 5:30 p.m. and had the fire under control by 5:50 p.m., Battalion Chief Eric Foster said.

a bedroom, but the rest of the house suffered smoke and water damage, Foster said. He estimated about $30,000 in damage to the property. The home's three occupants were displaced and are being relocated by the American Red Cross, he said.
The fire was ruled an accident, attributed to a "juvenile playing with an unattended lit candle," Foster said.
Fire Capt. Scott Trythall led a team of 12 firefighters at the scene. Crews from Absecon and Northfield assisted Pleasantville during the fire.
