broadsided the vehicle being driven by Gurjari Shah, 41, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., who was headed north on Fire Road, police said.
The collision sent Shah's SUV spinning clockwise. It rolled over several times and came to rest on its roof on Fire Road just north of the intersection. Lawn's SUV spun around and came to rest facing east in the westbound lane of Tilton Road, next to the Jiffy Lube.
Shah and her husband, Mihir Shah, 45, were both wearing seat belts and suffered only minor injuries, police said. They were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, by Absecon Emergency Medical Services. They were treated at the hospital and released.
The rear-seat passengers, Harshendu Parimar, 41, and his wife, Parulben Parimar, 32, of Absecon, were not wearing seat belts. They were taken to ARMC by the Galloway Township EMS Squad, police said. Harshendu Parimar was treated and released; Parulben Parimar was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The Shahs' 16-year-old son, whose first name was not released, was also sitting in the rear seat without a seat belt, police said. He suffered a serious head injury, and was taken by Egg Harbor Township EMS to the Regional Trauma Unit at ARMC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The front, side and side-impact airbags of the Shahs' SUV all deployed, police said.
Lawn, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury and was taken by Egg Harbor Township EMS to Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, where she was treated and released, police said.
Workers at the Jiffy Lube said on the scene Tuesday night that they were in a meeting when they saw the collision and the Shahs' SUV fly into the air and roll over several times. They called 911 and ran to assist the victims.
The Farmington Volunteer Fire Company and Fire Police also responded, police said.
Traffic was detoured for about three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared, police said.
No tickets have been issued, pending completion of the investigation by Sgts. Albert Maiorano and Marc Romantino and Officer Kevin Devlin of the Traffic Safety Unit, police said.
