the rear of a house in the 100 block of Knights Bridge Way. The occupants, Tom Crawley, 49, and his family were home and escaped without injury.
The house was damaged heavily and left uninhabitable. The Crawley family spent the night at a neighbor's house. Two neighboring houses also were damaged, but the residents could return.
One firefighter was taken to AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Traffic in the area was diverted for several hours. A local Wawa donated bottled water to workers on the scene.
Firefighters from Cologne, Laureldale, Weymouth and Pomona fire companies assisted Tuesday morning.
The fire's cause is under investigation by Hamilton Township police.
This morning's fire follows a fatal Route 50 house fire Monday and a Sunday fire that destroyed a vacant house on Reega Avenue. The fires don't appear to be connected.
Mays Landing volunteer firefighter Mike Reeves said he and his fellow firefighters are tired today.
"We're all kind of beat at this point," Reeves said.
