a first-floor unit on Falcon Drive in the complex and arrived four minutes later to see heavy fire coming from the window, firefighter Patrick Foley said. Ten firefighters on two engines and a ladder truck under the command of Deputy Chief Gary Morey were the first to arrive on the scene, and 10 off-duty firefighters were later called in. A Fire Department ambulance also responded.

The fire was under control at 4:48 a.m., and firefighters were on the scene until 5:45 a.m., Foley said.

The resident of the unit was displaced, and the American Red Cross was called to find alternate housing, Foley said. Damage was contained to the unit.

The Absecon Fire Department also responded to the scene, and Northfield firefighters stood by at the station, Foley said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Foley said.
