Sherrie Moskovitz, 43, of Mays Landing, was heading west on the White Horse Pike when she hit another westbound car driven by Geraldine Hodges, 63, of Absecon, at about 2:44 p.m., near the four-lane highway's intersection with Chris Gaupp Drive, according to the statement.
Moskovitz then swerved into the eastbound lane, colliding with Steven Gardner, 26, of Lacey Township, Ocean County. Gardner lost control of his car and hit Rosemary Kalin, 57, of Absecon, who was driving west.
Moskovitz was not injured, police said.
Paramedics transported the three drivers and Hodges' passenger, Shane Hodges, 26, of Brigantine, to the hospital for treatment of head, back, neck and chest injuries.
Gardner and Kalin were in fair condition Monday evening at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, about 1.5 miles from the crash site, according to hospital spokesman Frank Tedesco.
Geraldine Hodges had been released by 5 p.m. from the City Campus in Atlantic City, Tedesco said.
Tedesco did not have information on Shane Hodges, who also was taken to the city campus.
All were wearing seat belts, police said.
