Frank A. Vogt, 28, of the Oakhurst section of the township, flies the plane for Metro Networks' traffic coverage.

Vogt was flying near the Walt Whitman Bridge at about 7 a.m. when the plane's oil pressure started to drop. The plane started to lose power and altitude, he told the Asbury Park Press.

So he lined up the plane with the Turnpike's northbound lanes, about two miles south from Interchange 4, and landed the single-engine aircraft on the highway.

Luckily there wasn't too much traffic at that hour, and no one was hurt.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (AP) - No one was injured when a single-engine aircraft made an emergency landing on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Turnpike Authority spokesman Joe Orlando says the plane landed in the northbound lanes in Cherry Hill just before 7 a.m. Monday, about two miles south from Interchange 4.

State Police say both people aboard were unhurt.

Metro spokeswoman Christine Miller says the plane was hired by Metro Networks and was providing traffic reports for Philadelphia's KYW-AM and KYW-TV.

Plane owner Out of the Blue Inc., of Wilmington, Del., did not immediately return a message Monday.

A truck was brought in to get the plane off to the side of the turnpike.

By 7:30 a.m., traffic was getting through only the left shoulder.
