Three firefighters could be disciplined today for mishandling the lighting of Vineland High School's annual bonfire.
The firefighters, Michael Cifaloglio Jr., Capt. Lou Tramontana and Brian Murray, are scheduled to appear before the state's Division of Fire Safety Peer Review Board, according to an online report by The Daily Journal.
Accelerants and too many pallets caused the botched Nov. 25 pep rally bonfire, which caused a flash explosion. The fire was later ruled an accident.
According to the Daily Journal, Division of Fire Safety officials recommend Cifaloglio, the city's fire marshal, receive a written warning -- he wasn't at the scene, but his title makes him responsible for what occurred.
Officials are recommending a 30-day suspension for Tramontana and Murray.
