GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - A two-vehicle accident Saturday night on the Garden State Parkway sent several people to the hospital with minor injuries, according to State Police.

The accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. when, according to police, one car hit the rear of the second car at milepost 42 northbound. One of the vehicles overturned and ended up on the driver's side, while the second car ran into the wooded median between the parkway lanes and ended up in the trees facing southbound. Several people were taken to the hospital, but police said all injuries were minor and everyone was conscious and alert. Police did not identify the crash victims.

State Police at the Bass River station are investigating. The accident backed up traffic from the accident scene south to the rest stop near Jimmie Leeds Road.
