MILLVILLE - A fire that damaged a house on Seventh Street on Friday morning is under investigation but is not considered suspicious, city fire officials said.
The single-family home on the 300 block of North Seventh Street sustained heavy damage to the first floor, while there was some heat, smoke and water damage to the second floor, Millville fire Capt. Mike Lippincott said.
The firefighters were dispatched at 11:27 a.m. and arrived to find what Lippincott called "heavy fire" on the first floor.
"The one resident at home got out on her own," Lippincott said.
The resident, whose name was not immediately available, suffered some smoke inhalation and was treated and released at a local hospital.
Firefighters did not clear the scene until 2:56 p.m.
Lippincott said the fire has displaced the residents there, but the house may not be a total loss.
