A man faces DUI charges after investigators say he hit a fireman and a fire truck.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the accident happened at County Road 167 about a mile north of county road 274 in Jackson County just after midnight Thursday. Several emergency vehicles were parked in the northbound lane with lights flashing attending to an injured driver from a previous crash. Troopers say Richard f. Botch II, 29, was driving too fast as he approached the scene and veered to the left to avoid hitting a car in front of him. That’s when he hit a fireman and a parked fire truck and then hit the car he was trying to avoid before fleeing the scene. Botch was pulled over by Calhoun County deputies on Lake Point Road in Jackson County. The fireman was not transported for medical attention. Read more: Man Hits Fireman, Firetruck with Car |
