Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Weymouth Road on Monday afternoon, according to township police.
A southbound car driven by Anthony J. Perona Jr., 24, of Hammonton, crossed the traffic line at about 4:35 p.m. and sideswiped a northbound tractor being hauled by Bobby G. Bradbury, 44, of Sicklerville, Lt. Ed Barr said. Perona then hit a car and he was ejected from the vehicle, Barr said.
Perona, who had multiple injuries, was flown by a Southstar helicopter to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus in Atlantic City, police said. A nursing supervisor said he was in fair condition Monday night. The other car driver, Maria Delacruz, 46, of Hammonton, and the 10 year-old boy who was her passenger had minor injuries. They were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Division in Galloway Township, Barr said. Bradbury was not hurt.
The road was closed for an hour and 45 minutes while the accident was being cleared. Other groups who helped at the scene included the Hamilton Township and Hammonton rescue squads, the Hammonton Police Department and the Weymouth Volunteer Fire Department.
Perona, who was not wearing a seat belt, was issued several motor vehicle violations, Barr said.
