BRIGANTINE - A fire at a home on 22nd Street caused $20,000 worth of damage Sunday before firefighters contained the blaze.
Five city firefighters responded to a report of smoke in the area shortly after noon Sunday and controlled it within 10 minutes. The flames appeared to start at the building's electrical meter, according to a news release from the Brigantine Fire Department.
Fire officials contacted Atlantic City Electric to cut the building's power and remained on the scene for more than an hour to ventilate the structure.
A fire official said there were no major injuries Sunday, but "someone banged up their thumb pretty bad." No other information was available.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the release.
