From Press staff reports
A series of storms moved across southern New Jersey Wednesday night, downing trees and power lines and leaving thousands of residents without electricity.
Police and firefighters in Cumberland County and western Atlantic County said they responded to dozens of calls as the storm moved its way east.
As of 10:45 p.m., 2,721 customers in Hammonton, 1,520 in Buena and 845 in Millville were without electricity, and other areas had smaller outages, according to the Atlantic City Electric Web site. Others had lost their power earlier, but had it restored.
