From Press staff reports

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - An empty trailer burned up Saturday night in the Scullville section of the township.

The fire happened at about 9:30 p.m. inside the Ocean Heights Trailer Park on Ocean Heights Avenue, Chief Mike Fiedor said Sunday. Fiedor said the trailer was abandoned, but it was being worked on. It took 26 firefighters from the Scullville and Bargaintown fire departments about 25 minutes to put out the flames.

Fiedor said the fire destroyed everything inside, which wasn't much to start with. "It's almost like a coke can, all metal outside and gutted inside," he said. No one was hurt. Fiedor added that the fire is considered suspicious and officials do not know how it started.

Aggravated arson charged in trailer fire

A local man was charged with aggravated arson in connection with a trailer fire in the Ocean Heights Mobile Park that brought out 26 firefighters to battle the flames, police said Monday.

Firefighters were called to the abandoned trailer, which was being rehabilitated, at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The trailer was destroyed. An investigation determined the fire was deliberately set, police said.

David Corba, 45, of Egg Harbor Township, was arrested, and charged with burglary and aggravated arson, police said. He was taken to the Atlantic County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
