4:19 p.m. when she attempted to turn left onto northbound Pomona Road (Route 575) and went into the path of a westbound sport utility vehicle driven by Tasha Y. Mayhew, 33, of Somerdale, Camden County, police said.

Mayhew's SUV struck Taylor's car, pushing it off the roadway, police said. The impact caused Mayhew's SUV to roll over onto a traffic-light pole, knocking it down, police said.

The SUV came to rest on its roof at the base of the traffic-light standard, and two traffic-signal units lay in the westbound lanes of the White Horse Pike. Taylor's demolished car came to rest in a parking lot about 40 feet to its west.

Mayhew had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Pomona Fire Company, police said. She suffered internal injuries and was airlifted to the Trauma Unit of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus.

Taylor suffered internal and leg injuries, and was taken by ambulance to the city campus, police said.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and airbags in both vehicles were deployed, police said.

The westbound lanes of the White Horse Pike were closed for 2 hours while the scene was cleared, police said. Traffic was also detoured off Pomona Road.

No summonses were issued, pending completion of the investigation by Patrolmen Greg Bolliunger and Rich Barber.
