Firefighters free plumber after Lower Twp. drain becomes a real pain

Cunningham was unable to free himself. He called police on his cell phone. When police arrived, they could not free him. They called the Town Bank Volunteer Fire Company, which responded and cut him loose.

Cunningham was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center to treat his injured hand.

Mr. Rooter dispatcher Francesca D’Adamo on Tuesday said Cunningham was not seriously injured and would return to work soon. As for the accident, she said there was a rational explanation.

“We have some pretty powerful equipment,” D’Adamo said. “It’s not like a goldfish is getting his revenge for flushing him down the toilet.”
