PLEASANTVILLE - Fire displaced a family of nine from its ranch house Monday night. No one was injured.
The fire started about 11:05 p.m. at the one-story Jefferson Avenue home. Hampered by cold, wind and icy ground, city firefighters arrived within minutes and took about 30 minutes to control the blaze. Absecon firefighters assisted.
The flames apparently began in a dryer vent and spread through a wall, officials said.
Property damage was estimated at $20,000. Firefighters believe the home can be renovated and won't need to be demolished. The family is staying with other relatives, according to the fire report.
