One of our fellow firefighters from Egg Harbor City is recovering from a fall from a deer stand while hunting in the Elwood section of Mullica Twp. Phillip Cunningham, 26 of Egg Habor City broke both ankles when he fell Jan 2nd.
Phil had surgery to repair his ankle at Atlantic Care Medical Center City Division shorty after the fall. He had a plate and pins inserted in his ankle to help his ankle heal properly.
Phil will be in a wheel chair for about six months.
Elwood Firemen were called to help carry Phil out of the woods after the fall. Forest Fire C-8 (Rusty Fenton), E16-3, R16-4, and a Weekstown Truck also responded to the scene.

Mullica Township - An Egg Harbor City man was hurt Friday morning when he fell about 15 feet while taking down a tree stand in a wooded area, police said.
Phillip Cunningham, 26, was hunting in the woods near Route 612 when the accident took place at 11:41 a.m., police said. The tree stand was about 800 yards from the roadway, and it was impossible to get equipment to the victim, police said. A group of police officers, firefighters and rescue-squad members went into the woods and carried the victim out on a backboard.
Cunningham was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
