Fire Damages Church Youth Center in Egg Harbor Township

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - What is believed to have been an accidental electrical fire Sunday morning damaged a youth center behind Greentree Church, officials said.

Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to extinguish the blaze, Scullville Fire Chief Mike Fiedor said. No one was injured.

Several people inside the Schoolhouse Road building smelled smoke about 11:40 a.m., and the fire was put out in about 20 minutes. The Scullville and Bargaintown fire departments responded.

The building likely will need a new roof and a series of new joists to replace ones that burned, Fiedor said.
