Emergency Radio Drill Saturday

The Atlantic County Office of Emergency Preparedness will conduct a 24-hour radio communications emergency exercise starting 2 p.m. Saturday at the Anthony "Tony" Canale Training Center, 5033 English Creek Ave. in Egg Harbor Township.
Representatives from the Southern Counties Amateur Radio Association and various municipal emergency management offices will simulate a major storm, in which communication systems will be disrupted from damaged power and phone line and radio towers. The exercise will coincide with national Field Day, an annual event in which ham radio operators across the country simulate disaster scenarios.
