PLEASANTVILLE - A Camden County man was killed when he crashed into the Pleasantville Toll Plaza while heading east on the Atlantic City Expressway on Friday evening.
Police responded to the Toll Plaza at 7:38 p.m. and found that Robert C. Pirrotta, 61, of Sommerdale, had crashed his sport utility vehicle into the toll structure, according to a news release from the State Police.
Paramedics found Pirrotta unconscious and without a pulse, and determined that he had some type of seizure or medical problem just prior to the crash. Pirrotta was pronounced dead at the Regional Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City shortly after 8 p.m., according to police.
Pirrotta's wife, Maryann, 63, was also taken to AtlantiCare, where she was being treated for minor injuries Saturday, police said.
State Police were still investigating the accident Saturday.
