GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP - Decreased water pressure forced AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus to postpone elective surgeries Thursday (June 12th) afternoon and divert emergency patients to other area hospitals.

Water pressure dropped due to an off-site problem at about 1 p.m. at the facility off Jimmie Leeds Road in the Pomona section, according to an e-mail from hospital spokeswoman Jennifer Tornetta.

Less than 10 elective surgeries were postponed. Emergency patients were instead taken to hospitals including Shore Memorial in Somers Point and AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus in Atlantic City, Tornetta said.

Everything was back to normal and the hospital was no longer diverting patients as of about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Tornetta said.

(Galloway Twp Fire Department stood by with pumpers and tankers until the water pressure was restored)
