PLEASANTVILLE - A 36-year-old woman who was severely burned in an early-morning blaze Saturday is in critical condition, according to a nursing supervisor at Crozer-Chester Medical Center's burn treatment center in Upland, Pa.
Authorities said the woman was apparently trying to fight a kitchen grease fire.

"They had to break down the doors, so I went and secured it, boarded it up with plywood," he said. "The fire chief told me it started in the kitchen and there's a lot of expensive damage to the kitchen and laundry room."
It took about 25 minutes to control the fire, which caused about $12,000 in damages to the home, according to authorities.
Economidis said there was additional damage to other areas of the ranch-style home.
The 4:51 a.m. fire on Route 9 North appears to have started in the kitchen and spread to a utility room, displacing six other members of an extended family and sending Crouse by helicopter to Crozer-Chester, according to fire officials.
Red Cross officials relocated the six other members of the family.
