Corrections Officer Laid to Rest

Hammonton, NJ- Officers from throughout the area paid their final respects to Sgt. John Cruz of the Atlantic County Deparmetn of orrections in Mays Landing

Cruz a father of three was killed monday night by a drunk driver as he pulled out of his driveway. Cruz who has lived in Hammonton area for over 41 years served as a Sgt. with the Atlantic County Dept of Corrections for more than 27 years. Cruz was best known for creating the Home Detention System.

Officers from Atlantic County and Cape May County were among the many who attended the Services Thursday. The Atlantic City Police Dept. Mortorcycle Unit along with the Atlantic County Sherriff's Office provied Traffic Control during the Procession to the Cemetary.
