Raymond L. Nowlin, 75, beloved husband of Jennie (nee Galilei), and loving father of Maureen Federico, of Hammonton, and Janice Lawless, of Mays Landing, died Friday, April 20, at Wm. B. Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton, after a long illness.

Born in Danville, Va., Nowlin was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict, where he served with honor in the U.S. Navy as Chief Gunner's Mate on destroyers and LSTs. He was an active member of the Elwood Vol. Fire Dept. since 1961. When he relinquished active firefighting duties, he remained as treasurer of the fire company until his retirement this year.

The Elwood Vol. Fire Dept. recently dedicated their new fire truck to Nowlin, which bears a plaque reading, "This truck is dedicated to Ray Nowlin for years of service." Nowlin moved here from New York City with his family in 1961 and worked at Hammonton Park Clothes. He recently retired from Bally's Park Place, Atlantic City, where he worked as a slot attendant for 15 years.

Surviving him are: his wife, Jennie (nee Galilei) his daughters, Maureen Federico, of Hammonton, and Janice Lawless, of Hammonton; a brother, Billy Nowlin, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandson, Stephen Lawless, of Mays Landing; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 23, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Hammonton. Burial followed at Atlantic County Veteran's Cemetery in Estell Manor. Arrangements were made by the Marinella Funeral Home.
