The accident took place around 10 a.m. at the intersection of West Jersey and Fernwood avenues in the Cardiff neighborhood. Sandra Cohen, 31, from Egg Harbor Township, was driving west on West Jersey Avenue when another car driven by Anh T. Ho, traveling south on Fernwood Avenue, entered the intersection, according to a police press release.
The cars hit each other at right angles and Ho’s car veered across the east bound lane of West Jersey Avenue, went off the road into the woods and hit a utility pole, according to police. Cohen’s car rotated clockwise in the east bound lane and stopped in the road.
Ho was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, where she was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police. Cohen and her passengers, Donna Frank, 42, of Egg Harbor Township, and two children, were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Galloway, police said.
Traffic was detoured for 90 minutes while the accident scene was cleared, according to police. The incident is being investigated by patrolmen Steven Swankoski, Kevin Devlin of the township traffic safety unit and patrolman Robert Moran.
