Police are investigating the death of a 51-year-old man who was struck and killed by a car early Monday morning.
Patrick O'Donnell, 51, of Galloway, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:39 a.m. by the Atlantic County Medical Examiner's Office, according to a statement released Monday afternoon by Galloway police.
O'Donnell had been walking on Leeds Point Road when he was struck at about 3:19 a.m. near Curran Court by a car driven by Berhane Aklilu, 46, also of Galloway. Aklilu was not injured.
The investigation is being handled by Galloway Detective Michael Goldberg and Officers Derek Tilton and Rich Barber, with Sgt. Keith Fane of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Unit.
Aklilu is not suspected of any wrongdoing, and no charges or summonses have been filed, Sgt. Kevin Mott said.

Local woman charged in hit-and-run
Officers arrested a local woman over the weekend for leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident that injured a Pleasantville man, according to township police.
The accident took place at about 6:15 p.m. Friday when Dawud Britt, 40, was hit by a sport utility vehicle while crossing Bargaintown Road near Zion Road, Sgt. Robert Gray said. Britt had injuries to his left arm, and the township Rescue Squad drove him to Shore Memorial Hospital for treatment, Gray said.
Township police Officer Thomas Rocco, one of the investigators, spotted an SUV driving on Fire Road on Saturday afternoon that matched the description of the vehicle in the accident and had the same side mirror damage, Gray said. Rocco stopped the car, interviewed and arrested the driver, Gray said.
Mizenda Mabitad, 54, was charged with assault by auto and several other motor vehicle offenses, Gray said. She was released and scheduled to appear in township court.
The accident investigation was also handled by Officers James Donaldson, Robert Sheppard and Detectives Heather Stumpf and John Heim.

Crash injures Camden County man
A Camden County man is still in the hospital after a one-car accident Sunday night, according to township police.
David L. Parke, 48, from Laurel Springs, was driving west on Zion Road by Schoolhouse Road at 7:55 p.m. when his car hit a guard rail, several trees and went airborne, Sgt. Robert Gray said. Parke was trapped in his car and the Scullville and Bargaintown volunteer fire companies used an extrication device to remove him.
Parke had serious injuries to his head and legs, Gray said. He was treated at the scene by the township Rescue Squad and paramedics from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, then flown by helicopter to the medical center's campus in Atlantic City. He was listed in critical condition Monday, said Jenna Dearth, a hospital spokeswoman.
The road was closed and traffic diverted for three hours while the accident was cleared, Gray said. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Patrolmen Kevin Devlin and Steven Swankoski.

Crash injures Absecon woman
A 30 year-old Absecon woman is still in the hospital after a one-car accident near the Atlantic City International Airport traffic circle on Sunday night, according to township police.
Eleana L. Moore was driving south on Tilton Road near the traffic circle at about 10:22 p.m. when her car veered right, sideswiped a utility pole, drove into the woods and hit a large tree, Sgt. Robert Gray said. The impact started a fire, which quickly burned the car.
Gray said two witnesses who were driving by the accident, Stephen Kendrick and his passenger, Bill Ball, stopped and helped Moore escape from her car and carried her to safety. The Farmington Volunteer Fire Company responded to the incident and put out the fire.
Moore had serious head and leg injuries, Gray said. She was treated at the scene by the township Rescue Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics then flown by helicopter to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus in Atlantic City. She was listed in fair condition Monday, said Jenna Dearth, a hospital spokeswoman.
The road was closed for an hour and traffic was diverted while the accident was cleared. While police suspect alcohol may have been involved, Gray said, the cause of the accident is still being investigated by Officer Al Maiorano.
