Hunter Injured in Fall

Mullica Township - An Egg Harbor City man was hurt Friday morning when he fell about 15 feet while taking down a tree stand in a wooded area, police said.

Phillip Cunningham, 26, was hunting in the woods near Route 612 when the accident took place at 11:41 a.m., police said. The tree stand was about 800 yards from the roadway, and it was impossible to get equipment to the victim, police said. A group of police officers, firefighters and rescue-squad members went into the woods and carried the victim out on a backboard.

Cunningham was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
